Department of Dentistry at the University, under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Medical Sciences, hosted a scientific lecture today titled “Medications Used in Oral and Dental Medicine.” The session was presented by Dr. Shadi Al-Amiri, Head of the Clinical Pharmacy Department.
Dr. Al-Amiri welcomed attendees from both within and outside the university, commending the initiative and emphasizing the significance of such educational events. He also encouraged the continuation of similar activities to enhance professional knowledge and collaboration.
The lecture covered key topics, including how to access reliable information about medications through global journals and evidence-based practices. Dr. Al-Amiri also provided insights into the latest advancements in sedatives and pain relievers used in dentistry, along with a comprehensive overview of modern antibiotics employed in oral and dental treatments.
Prominent attendees included Dr. Abdulaziz Sultan, Acting Head of the Dentists’ Syndicate in Taiz; Dr. Munir Al-Yafai, Head of the Dental Department at the Military Hospital; Dr. Ala Yaseen Muawadah; and a group of distinguished teaching assistants from universities across the Taiz Governorate.
As part of its commitment to community service, the Department of Dentistry continues to offer a variety of free scientific courses and activities for students and graduates from Al-Jand University and the broader community.
