The University president, Dr. Mohyeddin Al-Qubati, participated in a workshop to launch the higher education strategy for 2025–2027. The event, inaugurated by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Khaled Al-Wosabi, was held in the interim capital, Aden, under the auspices of Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak.
During the event, the Dean of Academic Affairs at the University, Dr. Abdulqawi Noman, who is also a member of the Higher Committee for Preparing the Higher Education Strategic Plan 2025–2027, presented a scientific paper titled "Horizons and Directions." The paper explored the experiences and scope of the strategy, modern trends in higher education, and strategic orientations.
Minister Al-Wosabi highlighted that starting in 2025, the Ministry plans to embark on a new phase focusing on strategic planning despite current challenges. He noted the Ministry's achievements in recent years, including building a qualified workforce across various sectors, establishing a comprehensive database from the ground up, and founding new universities in liberated areas per legal standards.
For his part, Dr. Jamil Abdulwahid, Deputy Minister for the Planning Sector and Chair of the Higher Committee for Preparing the Strategy, emphasized that the Ministry is launching an ambitious and strategically visionary initiative to reshape the future of higher education in Yemen in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The inauguration event was attended by the Minister of Civil Service and Insurance, Dr. Abdulnasser Al-Wali, along with several Ministry officials, presidents of public and private universities, experts, and academics. The workshop was funded by the Tawasol Foundation for Humanitarian Development.
