Al-Janad Sixth Football Championship Concludes: Information Systems Team Crowned Champions

    The Al-Janad Sixth Football Championship (2024-2025) concluded with an exciting final match, where the Third-Year Information Systems team secured the championship title after a thrilling 6-4 victory over the Fourth-Year Management and Accounting team. The match, marked by intense competition and a strong turnout from spectators, showcased the exceptional skills of both teams.

    A High-Intensity Final
    Referee Mustafa Al-Ma’amari officiated the match, while well-known Taiz commentator Captain Hamdi Al-Nahari provided live coverage. The game saw an early breakthrough when Islam Lotfi from Third-Year Information Systems opened the scoring, followed by a second goal from his teammate Hamza Shawqi.

    However, Fourth-Year Management and Accounting responded swiftly, with their star striker Mohammed Al-Dailami scoring twice to bring the game level. The back-and-forth battle continued until a penalty kick was awarded to Third-Year Information Systems after a foul by the opposing goalkeeper. Hamza Shawqi converted the penalty, securing a 3-2 lead for his team as the first half ended.

    A Strong Second Half and a Late Comeback Attempt
    Determined to maintain their advantage, Third-Year Information Systems entered the second half with a focused strategy, increasing their offensive pressure. Hamza Shawqi completed his hat-trick, followed by Zaki Mohammed, who netted the team's fifth goal. Islam Lotfi then sealed the victory with a sixth goal.

    Despite falling behind, Fourth-Year Management and Accounting fought back in the final minutes. Mohammed Al-Dailami completed his own hat-trick, and Mazen Al-Banna added a fourth goal, making for a tense closing phase. A dramatic comeback seemed possible, but the final whistle confirmed Third-Year Information Systems as champions.

    Awards and Recognitions
    The awards ceremony was attended by Mr. Imad Al-Buraihi, Head of the Student Affairs Department, and Captain Anees Ghanem, the university’s sports coach. Several outstanding players and teams were recognized:

    Top Scorer: Omar Abduljaleel – (6 goals)
    Best Player: Hamza Shawqi – (Third-Year Information Systems)
    Best Goalkeeper: Mohsen Al-Harami – (Third-Year Information Systems)
    Best Disciplined Team: Second-Year Accounting & Third-Year Civil Engineering
    Closing Ceremony and Acknowledgments
    At the conclusion of the tournament, the Fourth-Year Management and Accounting team was awarded the runner-up trophy, silver medals, and cash prizes, while Third-Year Information Systems lifted the championship trophy as the tournament winners.

    The organizing committee expressed appreciation to all contributors to the success of the championship, particularly the Al-Nasr Field team, led by Oqba Al-Maqrami, Samir Al-Maliki, and Abduh Al-Tabi', along with veteran players of Al-Nasr Field, who played a vital role in ensuring the tournament’s smooth execution.
