The Nursing Department at Faculty of Medical Sciences, Al-Janad University for Science and Technology, organized three open defenses for bachelor’s graduation research projects, reflecting the university’s commitment to advancing academic training and applied scientific research. The projects addressed pressing health and community issues with significant relevance to the local context.
The first project, “Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Nursing Students Toward Prevention of Hepatitis B (HBV) at Al-Janad University for Science and Technology,” evaluated the awareness, practices, and attitudes of nursing students regarding HBV prevention. The study underscored the importance of health education and preventive measures within academic environments. The examination committee included Dr. Ayman Al-Qudsi (supervisor), Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi (Examiner), and Dr. Shadi Al-Amri (Examiner).
The second project, “Prevalence of Depression, Anxiety, Academic Stress and Their Association Factors Among Medical Sciences Students at Al-Janad University for Science and Technology in Taiz City, Yemen: A Cross-Sectional Study,” investigated the prevalence of psychological challenges—such as depression, anxiety, and academic stress—among medical sciences students, along with their associated factors. The study aimed to highlight the importance of promoting mental health in the university community. The committee comprised Dr. Shadi Al-Amri (supervisor), Prof. Abdulqawi Noman (Examiner), and Mr. Ayman Al-Qudsi (Examiner).
The third project, “Factors Contributing to the Cholera Outbreak in Taiz City, Yemen,” analyzed the environmental and health-related factors behind the cholera epidemic in Taiz. The research offered practical recommendations for mitigating future outbreaks. The committee included Mr. Ayman Al-Qudsi (supervisor), Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi (Examiner), and Dr. Shadi Al-Amri (Examiner).
The Faculty of Medical Sciences emphasized that these defenses reflect its ongoing dedication to fostering applied scientific research and preparing students to engage with urgent public health issues through impactful, community-oriented studies.
