The Department of Oral and Dental Medicine at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Al-Janad University, held a two-day specialized training course this week titled “Basics of Surgical Flaps and Suturing.” The program was designed for fifth-level dental students, providing them with essential skills in this critical surgical discipline.
Offered for the second time due to its importance, the course aimed to strengthen students’ practical competencies and equip them with core clinical skills required in oral surgery.
The sessions were led by trainer Lama Al-Areeqi, who delivered a comprehensive curriculum that combined theoretical foundations with practical applications, within a modern academic framework that enhances students’ professional readiness for the healthcare field.
The training focused on enabling participants to master theoretical principles of surgical flap design, acquire suturing techniques through hands-on practice, and understand classifications and methods used in oral surgery. These objectives were set to advance students’ clinical proficiency and prepare them for professional practice.
