The Department of Nursing at Faculty of Medical Sciences organized a series of community field visits last week, aimed at promoting school and occupational health while bridging academic learning with real-world practice.

The initiative involved fourth-year nursing students visiting several local schools and technical workshops to assess health conditions and deliver awareness sessions focused on disease prevention, hygiene, and workplace safety.

During the occupational health component, students educated workers on the importance of adhering to workplace safety standards, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensuring the availability of first aid kits in all work environments.

In the school health sessions, students carried out comprehensive health assessments and conducted awareness campaigns for pupils, teachers, and administrators. Topics included personal hygiene, proper handwashing, and prevention of endemic diseases such as cholera, malaria, dengue fever, and viral infections. They also provided guidance on managing chronic illnesses, maintaining balanced diets, and ensuring schools are equipped with first aid kits.

The field program underscores the Nursing Department’s commitment to strengthening students’ practical skills and fostering community engagement. It also reflects the university’s broader mission to enhance public health awareness and promote a culture of prevention within the community.
