The Dental Internship Program at University held an advanced training workshop titled “Rotary Systems and Apex Locators in Endodontics,” led by Dr. Adel Al-Adimi.
The workshop was designed to familiarize dental interns with the latest developments in root canal treatment and to strengthen both their theoretical understanding and clinical skills—preparing them for professional excellence in one of dentistry’s most precise and demanding specialties.
During the session, Dr. Al-Adimi traced the evolution of endodontic instruments from traditional hand tools to modern rotary systems, explaining the design, components, and operation of each. He also discussed the development of nickel-titanium (NiTi) files, highlighting key improvements across generations in flexibility, cutting efficiency, and resistance to fracture.
In addition, he explained the scientific and physiological principles behind modern apex locator devices used to determine root canal length with high accuracy, outlining their advancement from early single-frequency models to today’s sophisticated multi-frequency systems. These innovations, he noted, have significantly improved diagnostic precision, reduced the need for X-rays, and enhanced treatment outcomes.
The workshop continues tomorrow with hands-on practical sessions, where participants will apply what they learned through supervised clinical simulations under Dr. Al-Adimi’s guidance.
This event marks another milestone in the Dental Internship Program’s ongoing professional development series at Al-Janad University—combining academic excellence with clinical training. The program is supported by Leader Dent, the regional distributor of Dot Endo rotary systems.
