The Department of Civil Engineering and Construction at the university organized a field visit to Al-Adouf Dam in the Dhabhan area, southwest of Taiz, as part of the practical applications of the course Dam Engineering and Hydraulic Structures. The visit aimed to strengthen students’ understanding by linking theoretical concepts with real-world engineering practice.
During the visit, students were introduced to the technical and hydrological studies that precede dam construction, as well as the structural designs of the dam. They also learned about the engineering standards and procedures applied in the implementation of hydraulic structures to ensure efficiency and long-term sustainability.
The visit concluded with a briefing on the dam’s developmental significance and its vital role in groundwater recharge and the irrigation of agricultural land, contributing to meeting community needs and enhancing water security in the region.
