Al-Janad University for Science and Technology concluded on Saturday the Fourth Al-Janad Debate Championship, held under the auspices of University President Prof. Mohyeddine Al-Qabati and organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs in partnership with the Yemen Debates Foundation. The event reflects the university’s continued commitment to strengthening students’ dialogue skills and critical thinking abilities.
In a statement, Championship Coordinator Hamza Al-Tarjami said the Al-Janad debates have distinguished themselves for their high standards among universities and related institutions. He highlighted the strong support provided by the university leadership for student activities, describing them as a fundamental pillar in developing students’ leadership qualities and intellectual capacities.
The judging panel praised the advanced level demonstrated by participants throughout the championship, particularly in terms of argumentation, presentation, and the systematic handling of issues, considering this a clear indicator of the growing culture of debate among students.
In the final round, the opposition team defeated the proposition team on the motion concerning the privatization of public services in developing countries, amid notable engagement from the audience. The closing ceremony included the honoring of the two finalist teams, the top ten speakers of the championship, as well as the judging panel and all participants.
The event was attended by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al-Wahabi, the Vice Dean of Graduate Studies, Dr. Abdullah Al-Asbahi, along with several academic and administrative department heads and faculty members.
