The Therapeutic Nutrition Department at the university has held a specialised training course titled “Fundamentals of Bioassessment in Healthcare Practice,” as part of its ongoing drive to strengthen field-based learning and bridge the gap between theory and practice in line with the evolving demands of modern healthcare.
Delivered by Sadeq Al-Hamiri, the course underscored the critical role of bioassessment in nutritional diagnosis and evidence-based clinical decision-making, with a focus on interpreting biomarkers and linking them to patients’ health and nutritional status.
The programme also equipped students with hands-on skills, including analysing intensive care unit (ICU) readings, the proper use of intravenous fluids and bio-measurement tools in accordance with professional standards, and developing an integrated understanding of clinical, nutritional and bioassessment approaches—preparing them to perform effectively and responsibly in their future careers.
